Tate Coyle was born and raised in South Louisiana. He began playing electric guitar at age 14 and knew that the guitar would be part of his life for ever. In his second year of college he switched from mechanical engineering to Music Performance after his interest in the classical guitar grew. In 2005 he graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a Bachelors degree in Guitar Performance and also placed top three in the Friends of Music Guitar competition that year. During those years he studied with Dr. Jeffery George and also Dr. Gerd Wuestemann and played in Master Classes for artists such as Philip Hii.

Shortly after graduation Tate moved to Austin Texas where he currently studies guitar with Dr. Matthew Hinsley and also took voice lessons for about two years with his teacher Tim McDevitt. Tate has played in rock and metal bands over the years, mostly instrumental, and also plays in an acoustic rock duo. For the past two he has been teaching all types of guitar (classical, acoustic, rock, blues, and metal). Tate's goal is to have his students play with proper technique, develop good practice habits, understand music theory, and make learning as fun as possible.
