Rebecca Lew began her studies in piano at an early age in Southwest Colorado . She studied with Vergie Amendola at the University of Northern Colorado , where she received a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. She was the recipient of a full tuition piano scholarship for her four years there. Along with the standard piano repertoire she has also studied jazz piano and harpsichord. She has participated in various ensembles, including: piano trios & duets, jazz bands & combos, early music ensemble, choir, concert band, and orchestra. After her university studies she held a staff accompanist position at Pacific University in Forest Grove , Oregon . Rebecca is committed to developing her piano repertoire and is currently accompanying and teaching in the Austin area.

Rebecca has taught piano lessons for 10 years to students of all ages. She has been a member of the Music Teachers National Association since 2003, and is currently affiliated with the Austin Music Teachers Association. Her goal in teaching is to help her students become well-rounded musicians who will appreciate music for the rest of their lives. She enjoys developing the natural strengths of her students while helping them grow in areas of weakness. She teaches her students to play musically with proper technique. She encourages creativity and playing various styles of music. Her students find that their lessons are challenging and fun!

Her love for traveling and learning new cultures has taken Rebecca around the world, to India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Mexico and various countries in Western Europe. She recently completed a Masters degree in Intercultural Studies in Portland , Oregon , which she hopes will enrich her musical career. Along with music and traveling, Rebecca enjoys reading, drinking coffee with friends, and doing anything involving mountains! She lives with her husband in Austin , where she has recently picked up a new hobby...running.
