Dr. Paolo
Susanni
was born in Milan, Italy. He received his Bachelor and first
Master's Degree in Piano Performance/Pedagogy at The New England Conservatory
in 1996 where he studied with Prof. Jakob Maxin. Following graduation
he moved to Texas and received his second Master's Degree in Piano Performance
from Baylor University under Krassimira Jordan and his Doctorate in Piano
Performance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001 where he studied
with Prof. David Renner.
In addition to receiving many scholarships and honors, he has also performed extensively in Italy, South Africa, Turkey and the United States as a soloist and chamber musician. He has also taught theory and music history, and in 2000 formed the "Susanni Piano Duo" with his wife, Payam Susanni. Dr. Susanni has also devoted himself to the analysis and performance of the piano music of Bela Bartok, and assists Dr. Elliott Antokoletz in writing a book on 20th Century Music Analysis. Paolo has been teaching at Clavier-Werke since 2000. He applies a common sense approach to his teaching, adjusting his teaching style to each student because every student is different and unique and requires a different approach. His teaching is based solely on the talents, abilities, and skill level of each individual student. Nevertheless, he believes that all music instruction should be delivered with a healthy dose of humor - as his students can attest to! |
