The musical career of John Branch spans nearly two decades beginning as a student to his current role as performer/teacher. Originally from Ft. Worth, he began playing guitar at the age of 10 and was playing locally within a few years.

He graduated from Southwestern University where he majored in classical guitar performance. During those college years, he also attended a summer session at the Berklee School of Music as well as additional guitar lessons with former Austin guitar guru Clay Moore to study the finer points of jazz.

After a brief stint at the University of Texas at Austin and time abroad in Madrid to pursue additional classical studies, he began playing around the Austin area with musicians such as Ghandaia, Brent Palmer, Grupo Fantasma, Mitch Watkins, among others.

Along with his playing duties, he maintained a steady instructional studio at Brook Mays Music as well as Mars Music. In the fall of 2002, John relocated to California and settled into the Bay Area.  His main musical focus of those three years was his instrumental trio, The Other Lebowski as the sole composer/arranger for the music which combines elements of jazz, blues, rock, and funk.

Upon returning to Austin in 2006, John has continued his busy teaching and performance schedule with several different groups.  Always striving to inspire and educate, his lessons incorporate music fundamentals with more engaging material.  Students are encouraged to bring in their favorite music so that the lessons can be tailored in order to suit their tastes while also learning essential music basics that help them become a well rounded musician.  He is now accepting students of all levels and styles and is looking forward to being a part of the musical family at the Clavier-Werke School of Music.
