Hallie Van Vleck, current senior piano student at The University of Texas Austin, has one year of lesson experience with school-age youth through the UT Piano Project and private lesson teaching in Austin . Her primary pedagogical training stems from Sophia Gilmson, Professor of Piano at UT and Director of the Piano Project. Ms. Van Vleck studies with Dr. Betty Mallard, Assoc. Professor of Piano in pursuit of a Bachelors of Music Performance. Born in Burnet, TX, to family supported by artistic careers, her love of the piano was embraced. Ms. Van Vleck began her serious study of the instrument at the age of ten with Kay Race, notable piano pedagogue and performer in Austin . She has participated in ADMTA piano festivals, UIL State Solo and Ensemble competitions in piano and voice, and the High School Performance Workshop of UT Longhorn Music Camp. Ms. Van Vleck is an active member of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional music fraternity at the UT School of Music, a member of the UT Choral Arts Society, and member of the Texas Exes Student Chapter. Her expected graduation is May of 2008.
