Andres Vargas was born in Chile, where he began his piano studies at the age of 3. He holds a Bachelors degree in Piano Performance from the Universidad Austral de Chile where he studied with Ximena Cabello. While in Chile, Andres also studied with several international pianists, including Armands Abbols, Arnaldo Tapia Caballero, Roberto Bravo, Irmelin Jättkowski. He also spent two months in Germany where he studied with Clemens Rave at the Detmold Music School in Münster.

In 2004, he became a private student of Krassimira Jordan, artist-in-residence at Baylor University. In the fall of 2008, Andres relocated to the United States in order to pursue a Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance at Baylor University.

Andres has also participated in the Beverly Hills Music Festival in 2004, 2007, and 2008. In June of 2009, he participated in the Bösendorfer Musik Festival in Vienna where he studied with Paul Barnes, Mikhail Korzhev, and Krassimira Jordan.

Prior to coming to the US, Andres taught in two Chilean music schools. He has been teaching piano as a private teacher for more than twelve years. As a teacher Andres enjoys having fun with his students and likes to communicate to them his love for music. “To become a good pianist you need to become the music, and you must be one with the piano. It is important to be able to connect your soul with your body in order to discover the perfect sound for music”.

In his spare time Andres enjoys swimming, running and his new hobby, rock-wall climbing.
